Assiello says they are, but he has no way of knowing that, nobody can until the last episode airs, headwriters change their minds and always do. Shonda says they are over FOR NOW, put it to bed FOR THE NIGHT (which sounds temporary) but wonders if they can ever be just friends after what happened?
